Manaslu Circuit Trek – 16 Days

The demanding Manaslu Circuit trek passing through the off-the-beaten paths reaches into the geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating Manaslu Himalaya region of Nepal. Mount Manaslu (8,163m) located near the border of Nepal and Tibet is the eight tallest mountains in the world. In its circular course, the trek covers the almost all the landmarks of Manaslu region which include: capturing the captivating vistas of Manaslu Himalaya range from the top of Larkya La pass, following through the quaint trails and picturesque villages, witnessing the Buddhist culture of Tibetan origin, exploring the biological diversity, discovering mountain valleys, and alpine forest and mysterious landscapes. The real trek especially commencing from Soti Khola reaches at its climax once you arrive at Samagaon - the largest and most important village in the region. From the village the trip crosses the demanding Larkya La pass in the region and makes a descending journey in its circular retreat.

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)
On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our airport representative. After the completion of immigration formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel. Depending on your choice, you can either take leisure rest of the day or visit our office site where you can meet your tour guide or stroll around the streets of Thamel - a tourist hub in Kathmandu. Today you will engage on upcoming trek preparation with your team members. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 3
9 Hours

Kathmandu - Sotikhola Drive (710m): 8 - 9 hrs
Today the early morning drive through the Nepalese mid hill country sides in the company of mountain sceneries takes you to Sotikhola. In between the route you will come across Dhading Bensi (1,050m) – the district headquarter of Dhading (1,050m) and Arughat - a major town in the region. Even driving forth from Arughat you will reach at today’s overnight site. Overnight in Soti Khola.

Day 4

Soti Khola - Maccha Khola (900m): 6 - 7 hrs
This section of undulating trail at few places crosses forest, climbs ridge, walks through rocky track, comes across tropical waterfall, and traverses through rice terrace and to the most treks over the meandering Budhi Gandaki River. The journey today at first reaches at Khursane and then walks forth towards of Labubesi – a Gurung village. From the village the trail descends down to the Budhi Gandaki River bed and climbs a ridge. Next, the trail descends down from the ridge to reach the river at where you will cross a suspension bridge to reach Machha Khola village. Overnight at Machha Khola.

Day 5
7 Hours

Maccha Khola - Jagat (1,410m): 6 - 7 hrs
This section of trek even passes through a number of undulating trails. In its course, the trail today at fist takes you towards Tharo Khola and crossing the river the track connects you with Khorlabesi. Walking forth from the Khorlabesi, you will come across at a natural hot spring in Tatopani and then you will follow a climbing trail to cross the Budhi Gandaki River. Then the forth coming trail again climbs up on a well-crafted staircase track and reaches over a ridge to Dobhan. Again the onward trail upon crossing the Yaru Khola climbs over stone stairs to link you with Tharo Bharyang from where you cross the west bank of the Budhi Gandaki. Form the river the trail ahead passes along the river till to reach at Jagat village. Overnight at Jagat.

Day 6
7 Hours

Jagat - Deng (1,804m): 6 - 7 hrs
The around seven hours’ journey today commences climbing over a rocky ridge to Salleri from where the trek follows a descending trail to Sirdibas. As you follow the ongoing trail ahead the Budhi Gandaki valley widens up. Form Sirdibas the forward trail connects you with Ghatta Khola and then you will continuously follow an upstream trail to reach at Philim - a large Gurung rural community. From the village you will follow a fairly level trail which eventually links you with Ekle Bhatti – a millet fields in the region. From this section the forthcoming trail crosses several time the Budhi Gandaki river and while trekking forth you will even cross a bamboo forest near Deng Khola. After crossing the river, the trail ultimately reaches at Deng village. Overnight in Deng.

Day 7
7 Hours

Deng - Namrung (2,630m): 6 - 7 hrs
The pleasant trek today crosses Budhi Gandaki several times and even the today’s trail passes through the dense forest along the Budhi Gandaki River. The trek early in the morning crosses the Budhi Gandaki River to climb Rana (1,910m). After crossing the bridge on the trail, the trip heads west up the Budhi Gandaki valley. While moving forth crossing through forest you will come across Mani and the trail ahead contours towards Ghap. From Ghap, we follow a trail that passes through Prok village. This route offers you the majestic view of Siringi Himal upon reaching at a viewpoint in the Prok village. Form the village onwards you will cross the river several times, encounter with several Buddhist Gomapas, follow the route through dense forest, and even experience the taste of pleasant trekking experience. Eventually the trail today rests at Namrung - a good viewpoint for Siring, Ganesh Himal and Mt. Himal Chuli. Overnight in Namrung.

Day 8
7 Hours

Namrung - Samagaon (3,530m): 6 - 7 hrs
After capturing the fantastic vistas of Siring, Ganesh Himal and Mt. Himal Chuli in the morning, you will follow a climbing trail in the forest to reach at Lihi - a superb village with many Chortens and barley terraces. Then the descending trail from the village crosses the side valley of Simnang Himal. The journey in the section will be accompanied by the close views of Ganesh Himal. The continuous journey pass further passes through Sho, Lho and Shyala villages to reach at Sama Village. In reaching at Lho village you will have fantastic views of Mt. Manaslu where you can also get a chance to explore the famous Ribung Gompa. It so happens that you will find surrounded by high mountains like Himal Chuli, Peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli), Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and number of other snowcapped peaks including large glaciers straight ahead in reaching at Shyala villages. While continuing ahead from these villages in the company of spectacular Himalayas you will arrive at Samagaon. Overnight at Samagaon.

Day 9
4 Hours

 Samagaon - Samagaon: acclimatization
This is the village where you can either take complete rest or engage on exploring the charms of Samagaon. Around six to seven hours’ exploration trip helps you to acclimatize properly. Samagaon is full of ferocious Sherpa settlements and hence strolling around the village provides you the glimpses of rich Sherpa culture and long unique traditions.  Apart from these, you will enjoy the sight of thousands of Mani stones with Buddhist texts, pictures and the Sherpa women dressed in traditional clothes in the village. After exploring the village you can hike up to Sama village to explore the Pungyen Gompa - an old monastery with great views of the glacier. Overnight at Samagaon.

Day 10
5 Hours

Samagaon - Samdo (3,860m): 4 - 5 hrs
The descending trail today at first brings you at the Budhi Gandaki River from where trekking ahead on the side of river brings you at the Manaslu Base camp. The trail today you cross also known as Larkya La Trail and as you continuously move ahead through this trail you will find widening Budhi Gandaki valley. In between the trek you will pass through several Mani walls and forest of Juniper and Birch till to reach at Kermo Kharka. Form the Kharka, you will follow a descending trail to cross Budhi Gandaki river. From the river you will trek through a climbing trail which ultimately lands you at a stone arch from where you can view a large white Kani. Ultimately passing through the site of Kani you will reach at Samdo. Overnight at Samdo.

Day 11
5 Hours

Samdo - Dharamsala/Larkya La Pass Base Camp (4,460m): 4 - 5 hrs
The short trek today also provides you plenty of time for acclimatization. The descending trail at first again crosses Budi Gandaki River and follows a climbing trail ahead. The continuous journey secondly crosses two streams and also provides an opportunity to witness the Larkya Glacier before reaching around the valley of the Salka Khola. The forthcoming trail climbs again till to get you at a stone guest house at 4,450 meter. The guest house is a kind of shelter in the route which is also called Dharmshala locally. This is the right place which is also recognized as Larke Phedi or  Larkya La Pass Base Camp. Overnight at Dharamsala.

Day 12
9 Hours

Dharamsala - Larkya La Pass (5,160m) - Bimthang (3,720m): 8 - 9 hrs
This section of the trip passes through one of demanding trails of Manaslu circuit as you today cross the high pass Larkya La. Hence, at first the forth coming trail climbs a short trail to reach at a valley on the north side of the Larkya Glacier. While trekking through the valley you will enjoy outstanding views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. Then the continuous trail ahead walks across the moraines of Larkya Glacier at first, secondly you will follow a climbing trail and in the third position you will climb a steep trail to reach at the tallest section the Larkya La Pass. The top of the pass rewards you the spectacular views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kangguru and the giant Annapurna II. The second section of the descending trail from the pass passes through the area of low pastures till to connect you with Bimthang. Overnight at Bimthang

Day 13
6 Hours

 Bimthang - Tilije (2,300m): 5 - 6 hrs
In the morning today you will enjoy the captivating vistas of Mt. Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal and Cheo Himal. After enjoying the Himalayan panorama, the trip follows a descending trail which will at first crosses Sangure Kharka and then walking forth from the pasture you will cross a bridge over Dudh Khola. Then the trail passes through a rhododendron forest and a narrow valley until you reach the highest cultivated land of the valley at Karche (2,785m). The continuous mountain trail ahead connects you with Gho and walking forth from Gho links you with Tilije – a village on the route recognized for better lodges in this section of the trip. Overnight in Tilije Village.

Day 14
6 Hours

Tilije - Chamje (1,430m): 5 - 6 hrs
This section of the journey at first leaves the village through a stone arch and then crosses the Dudh Khola River. Next as you follow the descending trail through a scrub forest the walls of the Marsyangdi Valley loom larger and you can also see looming views the houses of Dharapani in the distance. The continuous trek ahead brings you at Thonje and passes through a Chorten-shaped arch and finally brings you at Marsyangdi River. Dharapani lies across a long suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River. From Dharapani, the forthcoming trail follows the famous Annapurna Circuit route in reverse and finally brings you at today’s overnight site at Chamje. Overnight at Chamje.

Day 15

Chamje - Syange (1,080m) 2 hrs Walk and Syange - Kathmandu Drive: 8 - 9 hrs
The descending trail today at first passing through the forest of rhododendron and pine brings you at Syange from where you will bid farewell the trekking section of your Manaslu Circuit trip and prepare for a bus ride to Kathmandu. The bus journey via Besi Sahar provides you an opportunity to enjoy both hill and mountain landscapes. The bus journey initially passes through along the banks of the Marsyangdi River, secondly it follows the banks of Trishuli river and in the third place offers you the chances of witnessing some beautiful villages with farming terraces till to reach Kathmandu. Departure from Nepal
The adventurous mountain trek in the Manaslu Himalayan region of Nepal formally comes to end today. Hence, before 3 hours of scheduled flight our representatives will take you to the airport. On your way to home, we hope, you will have plenty of time to plan your next adventure trip in the Himalayas. Or you can extend your Nepal stay for few more days.
